This is my first week participating in in FBFF hosted by Katy at Modly Chic and it’s been lots of fun. There are so many talented and kind spirited bloggers that I have met and everyone is so friendly and very helpful..what a great group of talented women :-). This week’s questions are related to Beauty Products which I love of course, but I have been neglecting my beauty and makeup posts lately and I promise to makeup for that. I guess between work, blogging, grad school, being a mom and wife I get a bit overwhelmed at times and I totally forget things (literally)…BUT honestly I will make-up for it all in due time!!!
1. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE DRUG STORE MAKEUP PRODUCT AND YOUR FAVORITE HIGHER-END PRODUCT?
One of my all time favorite drug store makeup products is Covergirl’s LashExact simply b/c it provides me with an EXACT type of lash which works perfectly for me and provides me with the extra volume that I need at times!! When it comes to higher-end products by far I love Mac Cosmetics Select Sheer Pressed Powder and this works wonder for my skin type being that I have oily skin and this tones it down and leaves my skin feeling natural.
2. IS THERE ONE TYPE OF PRODUCT THAT IS YOUR GO-TO, CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
The one product that I simply can’t live without is the E.l.f. Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths. I love these and they work wonders for removing makeup from your face and the best thing about them is that they only cost $3 which is very affordable. Elf products are now sold at Target as well as E.l.f. online.
3. WHAT’S THE BEST HAIR PRODUCT THAT YOU’VE EVER USED?
It’s very difficult to narrow it down to only one best hair product but some of my favorite beauty products are Mizani Hair Products as well as Aphogee especially since I have decided to go natural and no longer use relaxers.
4. FESS UP, WHAT’S THE WORST BEAUTY LOOK YOU’VE TRIED TO ROCK AND LOOK BACK AT NOW WITH A LITTLE SHAME OR APPREHENSION THAT YOU ACTUALLY DID THAT?
Well I’m ashamed to say…but I’m going to anyways b/c I can now think back on it and laugh. As a child I had a jerry curl which was very common back in the 80’s….I GUESS definitely not one of my favorites..I don’t know WTH my mom was thinking when she put those chemicals in my hair, but I hated it and I hated the fact that the activator that had to be used to keep the curls from looking dry would always cause the collar of my shirts to stain and look very greasy..uggghhh I so hate it thinking back on it and wish I had a picture to share with you guys so that you could see the damage for yourself.
5. WHEN IT COMES TO BEAUTY PRODUCTS, WE ALL USE THE SAME BASIC PRODUCTS. WHAT DO YOU USED THAT HELPS SHOW OFF YOUR PERSONAL FLARE AND PERSONALITY?
I will say for me eyeshadow..I absolutely LOVE my eyeshadow and when I say that I mean just about any brand of eyeshadow works in my book, but I do believe some eyeshadow brands give off more color and last much longer. From my own personal experiences, I will say that one of my favorites right now is BH Cosmetics. I love their eyeshadow especially when I use it with Urban Decay Primer Potion which keeps your eyeshadow from creasing and last all day long. The primer also gives off a much more vibrant color when used before applying eyeshadow. One of my favorite looks is the “Smokey Eye” and I love applying this look to my eyes with my 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette purchased from BH Cosmetics.
Make sure to head over to Modly Chic to join in on the fun!!
WHAT I WORE: CASUAL FRIDAY
I tried a new photo editor software that I found after reading one of my favorite fashion bloggers Fashionista Next Door where she posted Photoscape a Free Photo Editor and I’m absolutely loving it. It took me a minute to figure it out, but once I did “it was a piece of cake.” I’m sure there is plenty that can be done with this software, but I will just have to play around with each of the cool features until I’m comfortable with them. Overall I’m happy with the outcome. After changing the deepness and contrast to medium the pics appeared much more clear than they were originally…so those features alone are a plus :-). I also like the Batch Editor which allows you to edit more than one picture at a time and filter the pictures to each have the same effect or simply change them up. That cuts down on editing time. Before I used PicNik and I would have to edit each picture separately which can be a bit time consuming. Now on with the outfit!!!
